Founded in 1992 by SCI founder and Chairman Emeritus Robert Waltrip, the National Museum of Funeral History is the most complete collection of authentic, historical funeral service items and memorabilia of its kind. The Museum has grown over the decades through generous donations and acquisitions of significant items that document the history of the profession.
With over 30,500 sq. ft. of exhibit space, the Museum has become the largest educational center on funerary customs in the United States and perhaps the world. Thousands of visitors each year explore the Museum’s 15 permanent exhibits on a broad spectrum of funeral-related topics ranging from the ancient embalming rituals of Egypt to remembering celebrities and public figures. Located in Houston, the Museum is open daily for visitors to tour the exhibits at your leisure; guided tours can be scheduled as well. Plan to spend a few hours here - the exhibits are exceptional. And if you're a golfer, join us on the links with a professional historical purpose at the Charity Golf Classic. This annual event is always an enjoyable day with friends and colleagues that supports the Museum and its commitment to honor and preserve the significance of funeral history.
