Welcome
We've developed this newsletter / website for two purposes. First, we’d like to provide a reliable resource for funeral and cemetery business owners who may be considering succession planning and, more specifically, selling their firms. Second, we want to share SCI’s approach to acquisitions and how it may be a fit for you and your team.
Periodically, the following sections will be updated:
Former Owner Spotlight - an interview with a business owner who recently sold their company to us.
Acquisition Performance - an overview of an acquisition 1-2 years ago to show what does and doesn't happen when we acquire businesses.
InSCIghts - highlights of SCI community involvement, providing a sense for our values and culture.
Acumen - insights and invaluable information related to transitioning out of ownership. It's helpful whether you are considering a sale today or even years from now.
NOTE: Previous articles in the first two categories can be found in Archives.

We are excited to have the opportunity to build an incredible team there and carry on the Glueckert legacy.
- Elizabethtown, KY - In April 2024, we were excited to welcome Brown Funeral Home to the SCI family as an expansion of our Louisville market. Tommy Brown will remain involved as a funeral director, while his sister, Lora Brown Dixon, will continue to manage the location's business office. Their father, Bob Brown, assists with services on a part-time basis. All of the Brown Funeral Home staff also remain, and additional staff have been added since acquisition.
- Raeford, NC - In February 2024, Crumpler Funeral Home, consisting of a single stand-alone funeral home and a crematory performing over 175 calls annually, partnered with SCI. This acquisition adds two new locations that have served the French community for over 20 years. Savoie’s now-retiring former owner, Yves Savoie, celebrates the new union. "This will make a better place for our families as we are a small community, same people, same clientele, everything is set up in such a way that families will not see much of a difference.”
- Phoenix, AZ – Thompson Funeral in Goodyear and Simply Cremation in Surprise joined the SCI family in January 2024. The combined locations will add ~ 800 calls to our western Phoenix market.
